Coherence Learning Series
Every school is living through the same disruption right now. Attendance data, AI in teaching, learning and assessment, a new wellbeing framework, a new expectation on how leaders lead and teachers teach. Each one might show up as its own initiative, on top of all the other work of schooling.This is professional learning that doesn’t add to the work, but helps you make sense of so it’s strategically aligned and centred on the most important thing: young people.
The Learning Series builds three capabilities: map how the initiatives, challenges and opportunities connect, so you can see whether your school's work is actually coherent or quietly pulling against itself, design initiatives and projects with the people who live inside it, and read the signals already emerging, so you can anticipate the future and use it as a tool to design in the present.

Three capabilities to design and sustain change with purpose.

Schools rarely lack initiatives. What's often missing is how they connect, whether a wellbeing program, a curriculum change, and a new AI policy are pulling toward the same thing or working against each other without anyone noticing. Systems thinking is the capability to map that, see where the real leverage points are, and stop treating each initiative, and each challenge, as its own island.

How many decisions in a school were actually designed with the people they affect? What would it look like if every response to a complex challenge, a new program, a policy, a change to how something's taught, was built with the students, teachers, and families living inside it, instead of decided on their behalf and handed down? This session introduces human-centred design as a discipline for exactly that: designing with the people affected, not for them. It's a break from one-size-fits-all solutions, and from mistaking a good idea for a good fit. Reimagining isn't something done to a school. It's done with one.

No matter how many predictions exist about what your students will encounter when they leave, or what work or schooling may look like in ten years, nothing about the future is fixed. This session introduces futures literacy, to school leaders, teams, and teachers, the skills behind it, why it matters, and how it applies to the decisions schools are already making: designing strategy, building curriculum, engaging in partnerships, staying agile as the ground keeps shifting.
It's a break from treating the future as something to predict and then plan around, and toward using it as something you can read, question, and build with right now.
The Design Track
Where change and improvement gets built, end to end.
The Design Track is not a program or a workshop series. It's a hands-on partnership where we take an idea and work it through a design process grounded in systems thinking and futures literacy. The aim is not to replicate a program or a model you've seen in another school. It's to imagine and design what it looks like in your context, so what you build belongs to your school and no one else's.
We do this by working alongside your leadership team, your staff, and your students. We take the time to understand how your school actually works, the patterns and tensions shaping what students are experiencing, and we make deliberate design decisions together. And here’s where our methodology is unique: students are not just consulted, they're on the co-design team with decision-making power at every step. Young people are central to our design process; the method does not work without them.
And because the work happens in partnership, you don't simply receive a result at the end. You develop the insight and the capacity to keep iterating, and evolving your own system well beyond our partnership.
How it works: Guided by the Coherence Co-Lab Design Loop
The Design Track is structured around our Design Loop, a process that keeps design decisions anchored in real evidence rather than assumption. This is how it works: we work to understand your system, the emerging future it's facing, and the lived experience of the people within it. From there, we move through a co-design process that works within your real constraints, developing and testing ideas that fit your context and can be sustained over time. The pace and scope are shaped by your school's readiness and the nature of the work. We don't impose a timeline.
The outcome: Change that's yours. Capability that continues to build.
At the end of our partnership, you leave with two things: change that genuinely belongs to your school, and the capacity to keep evolving it. Schools that work through the Design Track usually come away with closer connection between strategic leadership priorities and what students experience day to day, a stronger shared way of working, and a leadership team that has worked through real complexity together and built an adaptive toolkit as a result.
Where schools begin.
The Design Track is customised to what you’re working on and what you want to achieve. Most schools begin in one of three ways.
A blank page. You have a new vision, or the chance to design something genuinely new, and you want a partner who works at the level of the system, not just the surface.
A challenge. Something hasn't shifted, despite everything you've tried, and you can see the issue runs deeper than the day to day. You want to understand what's holding it in place and design what comes next from there.
A contained experiment. You want to start small, trying something differently in one part of the school you can learn from, before going wider.
